This 40sq/m mosaic installation by Urban Eye aimed to brighten up and reduce fear of crime at a dark and depressing passageway that was known locally as “muggers alley”. The design and construction of the mosaic was carried out in partnership with the Eritrean Parents and Family Association. A second stage of the mosaic requested by Swinbrook residents was constructed with Colville Primary School.

 

Golborne United SRB, Community Education and Brighten up the Borough funded the mosaic which won a local Environment Award. The lighting was later also upgraded by Urban Eye.
